While the world is mourning the loss of Aretha Franklin as a musical icon, Victorie Franklin, granddaughter of Aretha Franklin, reminded us that she lost a grandmother.

Meet Victorie Franklin, Aretha’s Talented Granddaughter:

Victorie Franklin, is the daughter of Aretha Franklin’s youngest son, Kecalf Cunningham. Kecalf Cunningham was born in 1970 and is the child of her road manager Ken Cunningham. His name is an acronym of both Aretha and Ken’s full names. Surrounded by family and friends, Aretha Franklin died on Thursday at the age of 76 after a long, private battle with pancreatic cancer. While the world was devastated, as we all affectionately called her “The Queen of Soul,” Victorie Franklin, lost a loving grandmother that she will truly miss.

In remembrance of her grandmother, Victorie Franklin posted a moving tribute of the late icon playing the piano while doing what she loved best: singing. The video was created in March of 2018 as it shows a very frail Franklin enjoying her last days on earth. Most importantly, it shows her strength as a woman. Determined not to give up, Franklin was a warrior and the video provides a sense of peace that the queen is no longer suffering.

Here’s What Victorie Franklin Shared About Her Grandmother:

I have many memories of me coming into her home and she would be playing the piano and singing. Words can’t describe the pain I’m feeling, but God is telling me that she is at peace. Today we lost an icon, a legend, but today I lost my grandma. I love u and imma make u proud 💕 pic.twitter.com/cSFK5pibEV

Like Her Grandmother, Victorie Franklin Sings Too:

Aretha Franklin was incredibly close with her family as she loved being a mother and a grandmother. Before her passing, she recorded an album where her granddaughter, Victorie Franklin, sang and played the piano on the still unreleased album. Victorie has videos posted on YouTube, Twitter & SoundCloud and has recorded songs as a background vocalist with her grandmother. Recently, Victorie posted a video of herself along with her dad singing Roberta Flack’s song, Killing Me Softly.

Me and pops playing around. #KillingMeSoftly #cover pic.twitter.com/rd9pC9ra7C

We all were able to see Victorie’s vocal talents as she performed at the BET Honors awards in 2014. Can you imagine being an aspiring singer and the granddaughter of Aretha Franklin? The pressure is real and it is easy to see why someone would feel intimidated. With tears in her eyes, Aretha Franklin beamed with pride as she watched her granddaughter perform. Singing Tamela Mann’s “Take Me to the King,” in honor of her grandmother, Aretha sat in the audience like any grandmother would, smiling proudly. It was reported that Aretha was giving Victorie “one-on-one” vocal coaching and she believed her granddaughter had a bright future and a big career ahead of her.

Victorie Is Incredibly Close To Her Dad, Aretha Franklin’s Youngest Son:

Victorie is incredibly close with her father, Kecalf Cunningham. They are often seen collaborating together as her father is a Christian rapper. The Howard University Sophomore is a self-proclaimed daddy’s girl with Christian values that she credits her father for.

https://twitter.com/TDirt__/status/801841140857180160

It sounds like Victorie loves her dad just as much as her grandmother loved her father. What a beautiful girl! We can’t to see if she’ll follow in her grandmother’s footsteps.
