I believe they have a working relationship. Prince had Morris and Jerome appear with him when he was honored at the NAACP Image Awards in the early 2000’s. Jerome often played side man to Prince on tours after Purple Rain and remember Morris Day and The Time appeared in Under The Graffiti Bridge.

So now that might explain why the fight scene didn’t make the final cut during the Apollonia 6 rehearsal in the movie . Jellybean is also the one who breaks up the fight in the scene . How ironic .
