In reply to <a href="https://www.iloveoldschoolmusic.com/why-do-so-many-artists-turn-to-a-life-of-drugs/#comment-87">Timothy Vaughn</a>.

Timothy I think that's a good point that you made. It's very possible that the wounds that those artists were nursing were way too much for them to handle on their own at the time. They probably felt that the only way to deal was to self medicate.

They are musical geniuses, but they're also regular folks just like the rest of us, so they can only deal with pain the best way that they know how, and if they were not psychologically equipped and mentally prepared to do so at that time, then I understand that. It doesn't mean that their decisions to turn to drugs were right, but it does explain how they possibly ended up that way. Appreciate you for joining the convo' man.

Also put in to consideration the subject matter some of these artists went into. Maybe some of the topics were still too fresh or the wounds were still open.. just writing about it may have been too much of an overwhelming and uncomfortable feeling for them at the time. Im a young cat so you may have to correct me but I thought that point would have been valid as well. Just seeing the two images of Marvin and Lonnie... One guy writing about the demons he faced within and the other writing about the demons he faced within society... in turn becoming both of their downfalls.

I believe behind every addiction there's a reason why some people do drugs and some don't it's sad, my heart goes out to their families but not all artists or actors use drugs and they are under Just as much pressure. There's a unseen reason for any addiction.
