It appears Quincy Jones has ruffled quite a few feathers and now T-Pain has been added to the list of people who aren’t too pleased with the legendary producer’s words. While most musicians would probably be thrilled to work with a legend, apparently, it wasn’t the greatest experience imaginable when T-Pain and Quincy Jones crossed paths. During the interview, Jones revealed he wasn’t exactly pleased with T-Pain’s musical tribute to him and he had a relatively interesting opinion of the “Buy U A Drank” singer.

Last Mistake He Learned:

When asked about the last mistake he made in his career, Quincy Jones opened up about his last album, Q: Soul Bossa Nostra and he recalled the covers rappers did for him as a form of a tribute. “My last record [2010’s Q: Soul Bossa Nostra]. I was not in favor of doing it, but the rappers wanted to record something as a tribute to me, where they’d do versions of songs that I’d done over my career,” Jones said during the interview. “I said to them, “Look, you got to make the music better than we did on the originals.” That didn’t happen. T-Pain, man, he didn’t pay attention to the details.”

T-Pain Responds:

Now that reports are circulating about Quincy Jones’ interview with Vulture magazine, fans everywhere are reading about what he had to say. It looks like even T-Pain has heard about the interview. With all that Jones had to say, apparently, T-Pain felt compelled to speak out about the situation. Surprisingly, he also confirmed Quincy Jones was telling the truth but he also shared his side of the story. T-Pain actually admitted they he also did not want to do the record because he didn’t feel comfortable touching the work of a legendary composer, but his manager insisted. However, he didn’t take Jones’ comments lightly and he obviously didn’t appreciate the famed producer throwin’ shade his way.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
