Okay, so here’s the deal ILOSM family, this morning people were flooding our inbox with a video of that new school R&B cat, Jason Derulo’s new video for his song, “Naked” and yep you guessed it, in the video he is, in fact, naked. His song it’s actually pretty good…so what’s the problem you ask? Nothing, it’s a free country and if he wants to strip, so be it, BUT the only downside to this vid’ is that we, old schoolers, know that he is straight up biting off of the legendary D’Angelo’s video for “How Does It Feel”…Jason even had a few of D’Angelo’s signature moves and facial expressions down pat in his new video. All I’m simply saying is that ain’t nothing wrong with being inspired by the generation that came before you, in fact that’s always a beautiful thing, but there is something wrong when you take the exact same thing the old schooler already did, without giving the proper public acknowledgement to them for doing it first.

Jason Derulo is a great singer and a helluva performer, so I look forward to seeing what he has in store next with his music, I just wish that at the end, or beginning of his new video, he would have shouted out D’Angelo just so these youngins out here can know what time it is. As it stands right now, they think Jason created this new “naked” video craze he’s probably about to start.
