rasheda and aliTah-dah!!! Muhammad Ali be the pappy!!!

Like we said, many folks forget, or maybe never even realized that Ali had other daughters other than his famous boxing champ of a daughter, Laila Ali. He has several other children, including his 46 year old twins, Jamilah and Rasheda Ali. They were born in 1970 when their Pops was married to their mother, Khalilah Ali (also known as Belinda Ali).

Muhammad Ali is pictured below with his daughters, Jamillah, Rasheda, and Maryum back in the day…

Now Rasheda and Jamillah have each built their own extensions of the Ali fam’:

Rasheda Ali

Rasheda is married to Bob Walsh, who is a chef and the owner of a Chicago restaurant called Biaggio’s. Rasheda is also a public speaker.

They are both dedicated to helping their two sons pursue their dreams in sports. Their oldest son, Biaggio, is 17 and is a highly sought after football player for the popular Bishop Gorman high school. He’s already gotten several football scholarship offers from top ten universities across the country and here are a few pics of him…

Their youngest son, Nico, is aspiring to be just like his iconic granddad, Muhammad Ali. He has been training and sparring in the gym for a while now, and just had his first fight in March 2016.

Nico won by knockout…he hit that other kid so hard that the kid’s knees buckled as he fell out on the ropes. It was epic! If Nico’s first fight is any representation of what’s to come with his upcoming amateur boxing fights, we might just be looking at a new Ali in the making…but of course this is WAY too soon to make that farfetched call. Only time will tell, but check out a recent short clip of Nicco bringing his opponent to his knees (Nico’s the fighter in the black and white shorts)…

Jamillah Ali
Jamillah Ali

Jamilah married her husband, Michael Joyce, in 2010 and they have three children- their son, Jake, and their daughters, Nadia and Amira.

Here’s a throwback pic of them…

Michael is also in sports and in particular, he’s into boxing. He was a boxer back in the day who went by the name of ‘Irish Mike Joyce’ during his boxing career, so in essence, Jamilah married a man who had very similar interests as her Pops, that’s pretty interesting isn’t it? Michael is now Screen Shot 2016-03-20 at 4.34.32 PMretired from the sport and is now an attorney and a humanitarian, who spends his spare time helping young up and coming boxers develop their skills in the amateur boxing program he created at his Chicago, IL alma mater, Leo High School.

I guess you can take the boxer out of the match, but you can’t take the boxer mentality/passion out of the man. The last we heard, Jamillah was working at the Illinois Secretary of State’s Office.

And there it is ILOSM family, like we always say, we learn something new around here everyday! I’m sure Muhammad Ali is proud of his babies and his grandbabies.

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
