Mya Struggles To Find A Man & Tells Why She Hates “Smell” Of Non-Vegan Men…Fans React

Mya had a boomin’ music career back in the late 90s but these days, she’s much more focused on different aspects of life. For those who haven’t heard from Mya in a while, she’s actually focused on her health, living a gratifying vegan lifestyle. But as with anything in life, the vegan lifestyle also has its struggles. However, Mya admitted the struggle has nothing to do with dietary changes. Her struggle actually centers around dating.

Hi, my name is Mya & I’m a mangoholic. #SliceOfParadise #Rehab

The Dating Struggle Is Real…:

A couple months ago, Mya appeared on Madame Noire‘s ‘Spin And Spill The Tea,’ where she opened up about her healthy transition from eating ribs, to focusing on a strict, plant-based diet. The life changes have not only led to changes in her diet, but also how she feels about dating. The “Movin’ On” singer revealed how difficult it is to date a non-vegan man. In fact, she recalled a time when she was almost kissed by a meat-eating man and she admitted the experience was quite repulsive.

“Last year I had an experience with someone I’ve known for over 10 years,” said Mya. “He leaned in to kiss me and I smelled death on his breath. I was just like, ‘I don’t know if I can do this.’”

It’s quite obvious, Mya takes her diet very seriously. So any man who steps to her, better be prepared to come correct. It doesn’t look like Mya’s willing to bend and meet the guys half way if their diet isn’t on point, or at least close to hers.

Fans’ Reactions:

Of course, Mya’s statement has garnered mixed opinions. While some fans have given her the side eye, there are others who actually agree with her and shared their own life-changing experiences after transitioning to the vegan lifestyle. One person disagreed and said, “I understand the sentiment. But that statement makes no sense. Plants are living things too, you’re killing them when you choose to consume them…” Another person also discussed the vegan lifestyle, but admitted it’s no easy feat. “Meat does make a distinct change in your body odor lol. Meat is technically dirty. I’m trying to transition into vegan but it’s kinda hard,” that person said.

Then one fan actually defended Mya. “I stopped eating it and feel better it is a better lifestyle and i do not worry about strokes and heart attack any longer,” the person said. Another reader agreed, “Humans are not true carnivores. Real carnivores eat meat raw and tend to devour the entire animal. Most of the protein, in meat, is lost when cooked. Leafy greens have more solid protein than meat ever will. Mya smelt death because eating meat is technically a dead energetic exchange.

A True Vegan:

The latest news follows a number of interviews where Mya discussed her lifestyle and dietary changes. During an interview she opened up about other changes she implemented after embracing the vegan lifestyle.

“It is a lifestyle for me and outside of just food, I’m practicing fashion and making sure I’m not wearing leather shoes and I have not worn furs since a long time ago. I have to be very conscious when I’m making decisions and saying I’m vegan, because I have to be about it all the way and now that has given me some thought into creating certain things like home décor.”

She continued, “I look better and feel better than I did a couple of years ago when I was not vegan.”

In addition to focusing on her health, Mya has also been working on new music. The singer’s new album TKO is set to drop on April 20.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
