After Beyonce’s Vocal Coach Writes Tell-All Book On Her Family Secrets, Mathew Knowles Responds

Posted On : February 11, 2018

Last month, Beyonce’s former vocal coach, David Lee Brewer Jr. turned quite a few heads when he shared details about his new book, Beyoncé: Raising Genius: A Teacher and His Prodigy.” Brewer shed light on many of the family’s problems behind closed doors. From cheating scandals to drug and alcohol abuse, he aired all of the family’s untold stories and dirty laundry. Now, Mathew Knowles is looking to release a book of his own.

The Untold Story:

According to Page Six, Mathew Knowles is gearing up for a new book titled Destiny’s Child: The Untold Story. While the book is still in the early development stages, Knowles has revealed that it will most likely be released “towards maybe the end of this year or the first of next year.” Unlike Brewer’s book, which consists of mostly his account of things that occurred while he was Beyonce’s vocal coach, Knowles’ book will focus on a number of different aspects about the group’s rise to the top. He revealed the book will include “a lot of interviews. It won’t just be me talking.” Hopefully, for Knowles, the book doesn’t spark controversy in any way because lately, he’s been at the center of all kinds of criticism due to comments he’s made about his book that’s currently making headlines.

Questionable Comments:

For those who don’t know, Mathew Knowles was recently criticized for a chapter in his latest book titled, Racism: From the Eyes of a Child. In the book, he revealed he struggled with color issues of his own when he was younger. In fact, he also admitted when he met his ex-wife and mother of his daughters, Tina Lawson, he was attracted to her because he initially thought she was white. Then, he turned heads with another argument in the book when he said that he believed his daughters wouldn’t be superstars if they were dark-skinned.

“I have a chapter in the book that talks about eroticized rage. I talk about going to therapy and sharing – one day I had a breakthrough – that I used to date mainly White women or very high-complexion Black women that looked White. I actually thought when I met Tina, my former wife, that she was white. Later I found out that she wasn’t, and she was actually very much in-tune with her Blackness.”

He continued, “I had been conditioned from childhood. Within eroticized rage, there was actual rage in me as a Black man, and I saw the White female as a way, subconsciously, of getting even or getting back. There are a lot of Black men of my era that are not aware of this thing.”

It’ll be interesting to see how the new book turns out for Mathew Knowles. Destiny’s Child: The Untold Story will be his fourth book release.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
