Now that singer, Janelle Monae, has come out and is yelling ‘I’m pansexual and I’m proud,’ she’s also now boldly gettin’ her flirt on with her female crush in public. That crush would be Erykah Badu, whom she’s just shot her shot at on social media.

Before we get into what Janelle has just publicly confessed to Erykah, let us fill y’all in on what she first confessed to the world back in April (2018). Ever since our girl, Janelle, stepped onto the scene- under the guidance of her former music mentor, Big Boi of Outkast- many have wondered if her quirky style and delivery, was a coverup to divert attention away from her true sexual preference. For years, she dodged the interview questions about possibly being a lesbian or bisexual, simply by stating that she dated ‘androids.’

Finally in April, during her Rolling Stone interview, she decided, ‘to hell with what anybody thinks’ and admitted to being a “free-a$$ motherfuc*er” (her words, not ours) who happens to also be a “pansexual.”

Via RS: And she has another rumor to confirm. “Being a queer black woman in America,” she says, taking a breath as she comes out, “someone who has been in relationships with both men and women – I consider myself to be a free-ass motherfucker.” She initially identified as bisexual, she clarifies, “but then later I read about pansexuality and was like, ‘Oh, these are things that I identify with too.’ I’m open to learning more about who I am.”

Janelle Monae Confesses Her Love For Badu

Fast forward to today and Janelle is about as free as it comes. That was evident in her Instagram response to Erykah Badu the other day. In celebration of LGBTQ Pride, Badu showed love to the LGBTQ community and in particular, to her homegirl, Janelle. In doing so, she called Janelle out for having to find out about her sexual preference online, as opposed to in person. In her video message (below), Erykah Badu lovingly clowned Janelle, by stating:

“Happy Pride Janelle Monae, my ‘twenty.’ I had to find out over the Internet. So I guess I’m not your type. When a person doesn’t say speaks volumes. Happy Pride. You gay.”

She captioned her post:

erykahbadu: happy Pride 20 and all the gays. ❤️love u . @janellemonae “because the booty don’t lie” my ass ..

It didn’t take long for Janelle Monae to catch wind of Erykah’s post, because everybody and their mommas’ were tagging her in it. That’s when Janelle finally confessed what she apparently was too afraid to tell Erykah in person- that she was her very first true female crush:

Janelle Monae: “Hahahahaha…Well… since we being honest .. you were one of my first crushes …i thought you knew. LOVE YOU. Thank you! Happy pride!!!”

Ahhhh…glad Janelle Monae finally lifted that weight off of her shoulders and I’m pretty sure, her fellow free- spirited homie, Erykah, won’t be offended by her confession in the least. Alls well that ends well.
