After Violent Marriage Howard’s Ex Files New Case, Forces Him To Pay Massive Money

Posted On : June 4, 2018

“Empire” star, Terrence Howard, has a serious issue he has to settle with his ex-wife, Michelle Gent, ASAP…and it’s gonna cost him a whole lotta money. Michelle and Terrence were married from 2011 to 2013. Although many of us have shoes in our closet that have lasted far longer than their union, the amount of twists and turns their marriage suffered, was enough to last them a lifetime. Michelle has just filed legal docs against Terrence yet again.

What Ex Is Demanding

Looks like the head honcho of “Empire” is gonna have to cut a check for nearly $1MILLION to his ex-wife, Michelle!

Via TMZ- Terrence’s ex-wife, Michelle Ghent, filed legal docs asking the court to make the “Empire” star cut her a check for at least $909,418 in back spousal support … claiming Terrence has been dragging his feet since he lost an appeal about the issue back in October

In docs, obtained by TMZ, Michelle says she’s spent at least $820k in legal fees to get Terrence to pay up, so she wants him to also pony up that dough for her lawyers. … Michelle wants a judge to get Terrence to stop dodging the tab … claiming he’s essentially hiding his “Empire” money. She claims he’s made almost $9.7 million for “Empire” over the last 5 years, so it’s only fair he pay up.

Their Nasty Legal Battle

They’ve been battling it out over spousal support ever since 2015. As we previously reported, prior to getting his “Empire” gig, Howard had a spousal support agreement with Gent, in which he was paying her $5800.00 a month. After his much larger “Empire” checks were set to kick in, Howard convinced the court to overturn their spousal support agreement. He claimed that Michelle forced him to sign it under duress, by threatening to go public with ’embarrassing’ naked photos and/or videos of him.

However, by October 2017, Michelle won her appeal to have their agreement reinstated. The judges reversed the decision because too much time had gone by between Michelle’s threat and the date Terrence actually signed the agreement. The judges also noted that Terrence could have taken other actions at the time of the threat, such as calling the police on her for blackmailing him, but he didn’t.

Their Violent History

The former Mr. and Mrs. are no strangers to a lil’ controversy, they’ve been around this block several times. In particular, the controversy surrounding the abuse claims they BOTH made against each other once had these internet streets buzzin.’

At that time, Ghent had also filed a lawsuit against Howard and a photo also surfaced of her black eye, which she claims Howard gave her during a 2013 altercation in Costa Rica. Howard maintains that he hit her in self defense:

Via Rolling Stone: And what happened in Costa Rica with Ghent? “She was trying to Mace me,” [Howard] says, “and you can’t see anything so all you can do is try to bat somebody away, and I think that something caught her. But I wasn’t trying to hit her.”

Terrence Howard has since made a 360 transformation with his current wife, Mira (pictured above). In a 2017 People interview, he discussed his recovery from his violent history with women (including his first wife, Lori McCommas), and now understands it was the result of baggage from his childhood:

“I’ve made terrible mistakes throughout my life.” […] “I was dragging baggage with me that was crippling me mentally and physically. But I finally feel I can put that to rest. I can breathe again.” -Terrence Howard

Even though Howard was hella pissed that we mentioned his past issues in our prior article, we still give the brotha props for manning up to his wrongs. He put in the work to heal himself and evolved into a better man. Now all he has to worry about is cuttin’ that massive check to Michelle Gent.
