Last week, the shocking death of Angela Simmons’ ex-fiancé, Sutton Tennyson, sparked a social media firestorm. For those who don’t know, Sutton was murdered outside of his Atlanta home. Initially, there were no suspects or leads in connection with the case, but now there’s been a break in the case.

A Guilty Conscience?:

According to People magazine, on Wednesday, October 7, a man named Michael Williams, of Atlanta, turned himself into the Atlanta Police Headquarters. Accompanied by his attorney, Jackie Patterson, Williams was reportedly taken into custody. Patterson asked that detectives not question Williams.

He has been formally charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony, and murder. The circumstances surrounding Tennyson’s death, which occurred on Saturday, November 3, are still unclear, but reports have suggested that a verbal argument is what led to the fatal shooting.

At some point during the argument, things escalated and Tennyson was shot. It has been reported that the 37-year-old suffered multiple gunshot wounds. By the time first responders arrived, Tennyson had already succumbed to the injuries.

After the shooting, the murder suspect reportedly “sped from the scene in a car.” Despite the allegations and Williams turning himself in, he is reportedly planning to fight the case. His attorney released a statement to People magazine.

“We are fighting this case vigorously, all the way to a jury trial,” Patterson told the publication, noting that murder cases typically take between one to three years to find a verdict. “It’s gonna be a long process.”

When the murder began making headlines, the Atlanta Police Department released a statement. “Preliminary information indicates the victim had been talking in the driveway with another man, when the conversation escalated and the suspect shot the victim multiple times,” Officer Jarius Daugherty said. “The suspect sped from the scene in a car.”

Mourning A Terrible Loss:

The latest news follows details about Angela Simmons’ reaction to Sutton’s death. According to Hollywood Life, an insider revealed Angela was completely devastated by the shooting.

“Angela is beyond traumatized by Sutton’s murder. Words cannot even begin to convey her pain and angst. At this point, Angela still isn’t able to really get her head around the fact that she will never see Sutton again and that her son is going to grow up without a father.”

The source added, “Angela and Sutton had their fair share of problems over the years, but he was always going to be a part of her life and the fact that he has been taken from her in such an awful manner is just sickening. Angela feels that her life will never be the same again, and right now, all she can focus on is getting through today. The thought of a future without Sutton in it is just heartbreaking and more than she can deal with at this moment in time.”

The former “Run’s House” star also took to social media to share her action to the death of her and father of her 2-year-old son. She admitted that she was “hurt” and “numb.” Despite their breakup, he left her a priceless gift – their son. With a series of family photos and a video of their son, she offered a loving message to Sutton.

“Thank you for leaving behind my greatest gift,” wrote Simmons, 31, on Instagram alongside a series of family snaps. “I’m hurting. I’m numb. Thank you for the outpouring [sic] of love everyone,” she continued, adding that she couldn’t “believe I’m even saying Rest in Peace Sutton.”
