Beyoncé has actually done this before. According to Yahoo! Finance, the singer possibly made $4 million from her Coachella performance — you know, the one with the marching band.

However, she opted to keep the rights to her show. From this, Queen Bey also achieved a $60 million Netflix deal, a documentary of that specific performance.

“It’s no secret that start up culture often leads to low salaries, long hours, and little payoff, so in your next salary negotiation, don’t be afraid to channel your inner Beyoncé and ask for equity (but not just equity!
