Thrilled On Instagram:

A thrilled and ecstatic Mo’Nique took to Instagram with a photo of herself standing on a scale. The number on the scale was a clear indicator of Mo’Nique’s success during her weight loss journey. Mo’Nique shared a video of her reaction and it’s quite obvious she is very proud of her success. Mo’Nique admitted that this is the first time since she was 17 that she’s been under 200 pounds. She captioned the video, “Hey my loves. UNDER 200lbs. WE CAN DO IT. BELIEVE YOU CAN. DON’T HAPPEN OVERNIGHT BUT IT HAPPENS. RAW FOOD IS THE TRUTH. SWIPE LEFT. Luv y’all 4 real”

In the video, she said, “I said that I would share this journey with y’all, the weight loss and getting healthy…And today when I got on the scale, since I was 17 years old, I’ve been over 200 lbs. Today was the first time in my adult life that I’ve been under 200 lbs. So I wanted to let y’all know it’s possible, we can do it and we can get there.”

She added, “So I want to share with y’all what it looked like on the scale this morning, and I want to share with y’all the goodness that you can eat and still drop this weight. It’s called raw foods, it’s called dancing your pounds off. It’s called giving yourself the chance to live the best life you can live. Thank you all for sharing my journey.”

Weight Loss Secrets:

By now, everyone knows, Mo’Nique’s road to weight loss wasn’t easy. It’s taken her years to beat the odds and achieve such an incredible feat. So, how did she really do it? In the video, Mo’Nique went on to share a few of her weight loss secrets. She admitted she lost the weight by simply puttin’ in the hard work: no gimmicks, no surgeries. Over the past couple years, Mo’Nique stuck to her diet while working out with her personal trainer Dwight Holt Jr. “For me it was with no surgery, no pre-packaged foods, not listening to no spokespeople saying ‘it’s easy, you can do it.’ It was just putting in the work and not giving up on me,” she said.

A Life Long Battle:

Mo’Nique’s latest Instagram post follows a previous interview with BlackDoctor.org. During that interview, Mo’Nique revealed the health complications she faced that influenced her decision to lose the weight. “For a long time I was a child in my way of thinking. I thought that I could eat what I wanted, do
what I wanted, and was reckless in the sense of abusing my body. That’s when I was younger.”

She continued, “I think that the journey I have to take now is that I have babies. I have a son who is 23, but I also have a son who is nine. And we have twins who are seven. I want to meet their children. I want to be able to play with their children. I don’t want to be a burden on my family due to self-neglect….I was fortunate to watch my grandmother play with my children. I want to be in the same position.”

Although she’s struggled with her weight since she was a child, she admitted there was a turning point in her adult life. When she topped 262 pounds and was diagnosed with high blood pressure, she knew it was time for a change. “My husband said ‘That’s too much baby. I want you for a lifetime. I love you so much that I can’t lie to you,” Mo’Nique remembered. “I had never felt that type of love before.”

Congratulations to Mo’Nique!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
