Bob Marley’s Grandbaby Refuses To Be Silenced After Being Harassed By Cops, Hires Popular Lawyers

Posted On : May 10, 2018

Uh ooohhh…Rialto police officers in the sunny city of San Bernardino, Ca., have just learned the hard way that they done messed with the wrong one, after mistreating the eldest grandchild of the late great Rasta icon, Bob Marley. Problem is, the cops had no clue they were racially profiling a woman who was raised with the heart of a “lion,” just like her grandpops taught her family to live by. Therefore, Marley’s grandbaby, Donisha Prendergast, refuses to accept the incident that went down between herself, her crew, and Rialto police, as just another day in the life of existing while Black. Now, she’s lawyered ALL the way up and Rialto police department are about to have a legal battle on their hands.

Video Of What Happened

Marley’s granddaughter, Donisha Prendergast, and her associates were apparently minding their own business in a Rialto neighborhood o April 30, 2018, when all of sudden cops pull up and told them they were under investigation for burglarizing homes. That’s when everything went left:

Via The Blast: Prendergast claims a white neighbor called 911 and reported them as “suspicious” because they did not wave at her. Police have said the neighbor had said that three black people were “stealing stuff.” Shortly after the call, Prendergast says armed officers responded to the scene and told them they were under investigation for committing a felony. According to Prendergast, a fourth person was with them at the time of the incident — a white woman — but Prendergast says the neighbor only reported the three black people.

Donisha Prendergrast also wrote this on Instagram:

“Got surrounded by the police for being black in a white neighbourhood,” she explained on Instagram. “I’m sad and irritated to see that fear is still the first place police officers go in their pursuit to serve and protect, to the point that protocol supersedes their ability to have discernment. Many have suffered and died in moments like these. That’s a crazy reality check”

Thankfully Bob Marley’s grandbaby and her friends thought quick on their feet by recording the fiasco and remaining calm, which as we all know by now, still is no guarantee that a Black person will not end up getting shot by cops at random…especially in a quote unquote “nice neighborhood.”

Granddaughter Speaks Out

Following the police incident, Donisha Pendergrast spoke with words that are reminiscent of her grandfather. She explained why she’s decided to take action against the police department:

Via UrbanIsandz: “We cannot remove ourselves from situations that continue to implicate our brothers and sisters in a spiritual, physical, emotional and psychological war,” Prendergast said. “It is the inaction of those who could have and didn’t that has left our world in the state it is today. Our blood is shared, so are our joys and pains. When the rain falls, it doesn’t just fall on one man’s house top… So don’t you forget who you are and where you stand in the struggle.”

Marley’s Granddaughter Lawyers Up

Like we said earlier, Bob Marley’s granddaughter is a product of him, so she will not take that unjust incident lightly. That’s why she’s called up some of the most prominent lawyers around to represent her in a new lawsuit she’s filed aganst the Rialto police department for racial profiling her and her two Black friends as well:

Prendergast has hired Jasmine Rand and Benjamin Crump, two civil rights attorneys best known for their representation of Michael Brown, Trayvon Martin, and Tamir Rice. Crump also represents the family of Stephon Clark. -via TheBast

Donisha Prendergast’s actions proves that she’s a “Buffalo soldier, dreadlocked Rasta,” just like her iconic granddaddy. Fight on Donisha…fight on.

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
