It’s the case that is dividing the nation. Is Jussie Smollett really innocent of staging a racist and homophobic attack on himself? Despite him being cleared of the charges, Empire viewers have made their feelings very clear. The show ratings dropped to an all time low on Wednesday night as fans boycotted the show. 

Only 3.97million viewers tuned in to watch the hip hop drama, the lowest in the show’s history. It is a stark contrast to the season one finale which received nearly 10 million viewers. 

Fox Are Standing By Jussie

After Smollett had the charges dropped on Wednesday, #BoycottEmpire began to trend on Twitter. 

Fox issued a statement to say it was “gratified” by the outcome but it has said nothing since. 

Meanwhile, the prosecutors who dropped the case have spoken out to say they still believe Smollett is guilty.
