As Chaka Khan Prepares For New Legal Battle She Gets Real About Kanye’s Hit Song ‘Through The Wire’
The Jasmine Brand reported that Khan is facing a legal battle with her former manager, Olasumbo Kuti. Kuti, who claims she also has a stake in Khan’s entrepreneurial endeavors, worked for Khan for four years and is now suing for unpaid business and personal management services. And she ain’t asking for a little bit of money either. Kuti wants $236,000:
Kuti worked for Khan, from 2013 until she was fired in 2017. Kuti, who said she owns five percent of Khan’s three business, asked the court to grant her partial ownership of the companies, on top of the $236,000. She also said she was the brains behind various streams of income for Khan before she was fired in a huge shakeup of the “Aint Nobody” singer’s staff.
$236,000 is a lot of money, but she doesn’t seem too pressed about the lawsuit. Khan has yet to respond to Kuti’s claims. However, if she does indeed have to pay Kuti, how many times would “Through The Wire” have to be played to get Khan the cash? Hopefully she won’t have to find out.
