Chicago Prosecutor Kim Foxx Received ‘Racist Death Threats’ After Dropping Charges Against Jussie Smollett

The fallout from the Jussie Smollett saga continues.

Cook County State’s Attorney Kim Foxx has reportedly received “racist death threats” since her office’s decision to drop all charges against the Empire star, according to the Chicago Sun Times

Her staff say they began receiving death threats shortly after their decision to drop Smollett’s 16 counts for allegedly lying to police about a “racist and homophobic attack.”

Her Personal Safety Has Been Compromised

“We can confirm that the State’s Attorney has received threats to her personal safety and security, a number of which have contained racially charged language,” Foxx’s office told the Chicago Sun Times

Smollett made headlines after claiming he was attacked by two “Trump supporting” white men who doused him with bleach and placed a noose around his neck. He also alleged they called him “racist” and “homophobic” slurs.

But the actor/musician was soon accused of staging the attack on himself on January 29 to try to get a raise on the show, Empire. Chicago police say he paid Nigerian brothers Abel and Ola Osundairo to beat him up.

But Smollett has always maintained his innocence and insisted he was attacked.

She Has Defended Dismissing The Charges

Chicago Mayor Rahm Emanuel and others criticized the decision by Foxx’s office last month to drop charges. But Foxx has publicly defended the dismissal of charges.

Foxx has requested an internal investigation into her conduct. She maintains that she has not acted unethically and welcomes an independent investigation.

According to the Chicago Tribune Foxx has said that she would be open to engaging in “candid conversations” about the case – but only after the inspector general submits his findings.

Foxx recused herself from the investigation after it emerged she had electronic communications with members of Jussie’s family. But she has now admitted that she only meant it in a “colloquial” sense rather than a “legal sense.”

Foxx says it was informal decision to “step away from the decision making” rather than remove herself entirely from it. It comes after the release of thousands of texts and emails Foxx allegedly sent calling Jussie a “washed up celeb who lied to cops,” according to CNN.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
