In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Rock -an avid Obama supporter- was asked his views on the Obamas’ lucrative new deal with the streaming service and here’s what he had to say:

“I don’t want to live in a world where President Obama is worried about his Rotten Tomatoes score,” [says Chris Rock.] “I want him above that at all times. Make your money, but I don’t want [him] to be involved with that.” When pressed, though, Rock does offer one piece of showbiz advice to the former first couple. “I’d just send them over to Donald Glover,” he tells THR. “That’s what I’d do.” -via THR

This comes after Chris Rock racked up in a reportedly $40 million Netflix deal of his own, for a couple of comedy specials and also a new Netflix movie co-starring Adam Sandler, “The Week Of”- all of which turned out to be major hits.

However, since the Obama’s are just as innovative as they ever were, Chris Rock is probably gonna need a lil’ more time to adjust to their new creative and very smart moves within the film production game.

In case y’all haven’t yet heard, Mr. and Mrs. Obama inked a multi-year deal with Netflix, to produce a variety of shows through their new production company, Higher Ground Productions. Their productions will focus on positive entertainment and insightful information.

Netflix tweeted the news in May:

President Barack Obama and Michelle Obama have entered into a multi-year agreement to produce films and series for Netflix, potentially including scripted series, unscripted series, docu-series, documentaries, and features.

President Obama also expressed his excitement about the Netflix deal in a formal statement:

“One of the simple joys of our time in public service was getting to meet so many fascinating people from all walks of life, and to help them share their experiences with a wider audience. That’s why Michelle and I are so excited to partner with Netflix — we hope to cultivate and curate the talented, inspiring, creative voices who are able to promote greater empathy and understanding between peoples, and help them share their stories with the entire world.”

Netflix’s chief of content officer, Ted Sarandos, stated the following about why the Obamas are a perfect fit for Netflix:

“Barack and Michelle Obama are among the world’s most respected and highly recognized public figures and are uniquely positioned to discover and highlight stories of people who make a difference in their communities and strive to change the world for the better,” he said. “We are incredibly proud they have chosen to make Netflix the home for their formidable storytelling abilities.” via NYTimes

The Obamas have also made it clear that they have no intentions on using their new Netflix platform to bash the current dude in the White House, nor any of their political opposers. True to their nature, they will instead continue to do what they’ve always done- keep it classy. Quite frankly, we cannot wait to check out the Obamas upcoming projects- it will be hella refreshing to have two political powerhouses who actually care about the state of the country, once again delivering their messages to the masses.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
