Posted On : December 3, 2017

When many of Old Schoolers were vibin’ to LL Cool J’s “I Can’t Live Without My Radio” in 1985, we had no idea that 32 years later we’d still be seeing the brotha make strides in his career. Today as a rap legend, actor, and TV show host, LL has just accomplished a few major feats.

LL Cool J’s New Degree

The “I Need Love” MC can officially say that he is a Harvard University Business School graduate. In a recent social media post, LL revealed that he’s been hard at work for the past few years, in pursuit of his Business of Entertainment Media & Sports degree:

llcoolj: I Completed the Business of Entertainment media & sports program @harvardhbs it was a life altering experience. Learning is cool… 🔥🔥🔥 #dreamsdemandhustle #dreamsdonthavedeadlines lets go!!!!

Not sure what, exactly, LL is planning to do with his new Harvard Business School degree, but according to the university’s website, here’s what he can use it for:

The entertainment management course is appropriate for those in the talent industry—including professional athletes, musicians, and actors—as well as for agents, managers, and other individuals who represent talent. This program also is appropriate for mid- and senior-level executives who work or aspire to work for studios, networks, publishers, music companies, performing arts companies, sports leagues and teams, and other creative enterprises. Brand managers, promoters, consultants, investors, and others who are active in the entertainment industry will benefit as well.

LL Celebrates Being 1st Rapper To Receive Kennedy Center Honor

LL has another reason to celebrate. He also broke history recently, by becoming the first rapper to ever receive the prestigious Kennedy Center Honor. As a 2017 KC Honors recipient, LL Cool J was joined in the ranks with Lionel Richie, Norman Lear, dancer/choreographer Carmen de Lavallade (wife of the late Boomerang/Annie actor, Geoffrey Holder), and Gloria Estefan.

Never one to miss an opportunity to motivate others, the “I’m Bad” MC took to Instagram to share his experience with his fans, as well as give a message about how to work hard and grow:

llcoolj: Put the work in. Dream huge dreams. Put some more work in. Keep the faith. Praise GOD. Adjust. Dream some more. Put some more work in. Repeat. And we don’t stop!!!! If We can do it, You can do it.. @kennedycenter #KCHonors

From a hungry teenaged New York MC in 1985, to one of the most legendary entertainers to ever grace the game. Major props to LL Cool J on his life coming full circle.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
