Where Have They Been? Bad Girls Of Bad Boy

Remember the 90’s R&B group, Total? They were the ‘bad girl princesses’ of Puffy’s Bad Boy label that consisted of members: Kima Raynor, Keisha Spivey, and Pamela Long. With a unique sound and a dope wardrobe, Total’s songs were the soundtrack of the 90’s, with their hot joints like “Kissing You,” “Can’t You See,”  “No One Else” and more. One of Bad Boy’s original acts, the trio only made two albums: Total (1996) and Kima, Keisha & Pam (1998). The group disbanded in 1999, but in recent years, all three of them reunited to perform on the Bad Boy Reunion Tour.

According to Ebony.com, the demise of the group was largely due to the passing of Notorious B.I.G.. In addition to Biggie’s passing, Puffy released the mega-collabo debut album, No Way Out, thus becoming a star of Bad Boy himself. Puffy had less time to devote to the group and entrusted their sound with Missy Elliot. However, no matter how hard Missy worked, Puffy reportedly wasn’t feelin’ it.

“Puff wasn’t feeling a lot of what Missy was doing, but we wanted that sound. Puffy didn’t think it would hit, but when that thing crunked up and radio got a hold of it… When it hit, it hit!,” Pam said to Ebony.

Eventually, the the ladies moved on and did their own thing with their personal lives, with members getting married and starting families, while promoters were still calling trying to get Total to reunite.

Pam Is Married

Pam married a fellow singer,”Unofficial” Pretty Ricky member, J.Long, in 2013. At the time, both singers considered themselves Christian artists and recorded a song together called “Sweet Thang”. While Pam doesn’t have any photos of her husband on Instagram, we’re assuming she’s still married. It’s not clear if Pam has children, or not, but she did post a picture of a teenage girl going to prom and called the young lady her”baby”…

Keisha & Husband/Actor, Omar Epps, Still Going Strong

Keisha married Omar Epps and they’ve been happily married for 11 years. Omar and Keisha live in California with their two children – their daughter, K’mari Mae and their son, Amir . Omar also has a an older daughter, Aiyanna, from a previous relationship.

Kima’s About To Be A Grandmama

According to Centric, Kima has been married for 20 years and has 6 kids. The third member of the group has kept a low profile and keeps her personal life pretty secretive. In an interview with Parle Mag, Kima shared that her greatest accomplishment includes being a wife and a mother. On her Instagram page, the singer shared some exciting news about a new edition to her family. Her son is expecting a son and she’ll be a grandmother soon! Wow!

While Kima awaits the birth of her grandson, the ladies are back on tour and they still got it! In addition to performing on the Bad Boy Reunion Tour, Total is the face of the Beauty Chronicles Women’s Empowerment Brunch Series, along with a few other women from the Bad Boy fam.’ Created by media industry guru, Steve Jones, the traveling series is bringing fans face to face with the ladies of Bad Boy to have a discussion on rising above industry stereotypes and empowering other women through lessons learned. Currently, the ladies are on tour with Xscape and NEXT.

It seems like Total has come full circle: they’ve separated, built their lives as married women with kids, to now reconnecting and being back on stage shuttin’ it DOWN. Gotta love it!

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
