Harvey’s thought provoking points…

Then the topic arose of the many things Nipsey Hussle had in the works to improve his community as a leader and community activist. That’s when D.L. brought Steve Harvey into the convo’ and many details about Steve’s past were revealed.

Steve talked about being homeless and having folks ‘count him out’ before the fame:

Harvey: “I can relate totally, because coming from the…bottom to the top, people don’t understand the journey. …As [Tyler] was saying, you need people to show that example to others. The average person is without. The average person is flatting. Most of us are not born at zero, most of us are born below the poverty line. So when you see cats like Nipsey Hussle, and my generation, and the generation before me, or me…what did they do before us D.L.? What was Pryor and them, and Cosby, and Moms Mabley…going through? What did Amos and Andy REALLY have to do to get to where they at?

Harvey continued:

“So when you start taking away…the ‘Nipsey Hussles’ for what?!! This guy didn’t come out the bottom, he came out the quicksand. He ain’t in the dirt, he in the quicksand.”

On a side note: I think Tyler Hughley possesses the same intense passion and compassion for others, as her Pops does. She also seems to have his outspoken spirit. Hopefully we’ll be hearing much more from that young Queen in the future.
