Da Brat’s life has been one helluva rollercoaster ride- with several highs, lows, and also one big regret thrown into the mix. Today at age 44, the “Funkdafied” rhyme spitta probably never thought she’d be here. It’s just been reported by The Blast, that Brat has recently been forced to file Chapter 11 bankruptcy.

Details Of Her Debt and The Biggest Regret She Probably Has Behind All Of This

According to reports, Da Brat is in the hole by $7 MILLION! Also, her current earnings as a radio personality- on Dish Nation’s “Rickey Smiley’s Morning Show”- is not sufficient enough to cover her debt, or even her monthly expenses. Here is a breakdown of what she currently owes:

Via TB: Da Brat’s liabilities include $6.4 million owed to former cheerleader Shayla Stevens, who won a judgment against the rapper after she hit her with a bottle in a nightclub.

The rapper owes another $1,255,128 to Sony Music and $12k to Ally Bank. In the documents, she lists $2,284 in credit card debt, $2,284 owed to the Georgia Department of Revenue and an unknown amount to the IRS.

Her assets include a 1999 Mercedes 238i ($5k), a 2014 BMW 328i ($15k), and a 2016 Jeep Wrangler ($23k). Da Brat also lists furniture and household goods worth $8,000, electronics in the amount of $3k, a treadmill and elliptical for $2k, $20k in clothing (which she notes is necessary for her job), three dogs (listed as $0), two necklaces worth $15k, and various royalty agreements with an unknown value.

There’s more. It was stated in court docs, that Da Brat’s monthly income is $9,319.00, but unfortunately her expenses are said to be $10,506.55 per month. That leaves her in a $1,187.00 monthly deficit.

The Blast also revealed that the So So Def MC has earned $75k thus far this year (2018), $106k in 2017, and $92k in 2016.

Da Brat’s biggest debt, as y’all can see, is to the ex-NFL cheerleader, Shayla Stevens. If I had to take a guess, I’d say that is also one of Da Brat’s biggest regrets. Stevens reportedly suffered permanent facial scarring and neurological damage, as a result of the bottle strike to her head. When Da Brat struck Stevens across the head with a bottle in 2007, it was clearly a hot headed moment that landed her in jail for 3 years. Now that same bad decision has landed her in debt for millions.

To Da Brat’s credit, she seems to have learned from her past indiscretions and was fortunate enough to be granted a second chance at life, when she was given the opportunity to be a radio personality for such a highly syndicated show. She may be going through tough financial times right now, but Brat is a tough woman- she’s seen rougher days than this and pushed through them. Therefore, this too shall pass.

When Da Brat Reacted To Wendy Williams’ Shade Over Money & Legal Woes

By the way, speaking of debt problems and hostile feuds, it was just in December 2017, that Da Brat had to publicly address her money issues with the world, while co-hosting “The Rickey Smiley Morning Show.” Why so, you ask? Well, because controversial talk show diva, Wendy Williams, effortlessly shaded Da Brat over the $6.4 million she owes to Shayla Stevens. Not one to back down, Da Brat clapped back live on the radio. Peep what she said in the video up top.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
