Damon Dash Angrily Confronts Director Lee Daniels, Then Slaps Him With Mega-Lawsuit
One thing we’ll probably never catch former Roc-A-Fella Records CEO, Damon Dash, doing is biting his tongue…for anybody! That rule of thumb didn’t change when it came time to take action against “Empire” creator/director, Lee Daniels.

Damon Dash revealed that he’s apparently been trying to get Lee Daniels to pay back a $2 million loan he gave him in 2014. There have been several disputes between the two over the loan, plus another lucrative agreement they had. Their latest dispute has now provoked Dash to not only file a multi-million dollar lawsuit against Lee, but to also publicly put him on blast.
In a new Instagram post, Dash shared video footage from the time he confronted Daniels at music legend, Diana Ross,’ event recently. He also included a pissed off caption with his video and tagged Lee Daniels (who goes by the Instagram name, @originalbigdaddy) in it, to make SURE the brotha got the message loud and clear:
“I straight up loaned this dude Lee Daniels @theoriginalbigdaddy 2 million to pay for his dream of being a director…it was the money I was using to fund my movies and stay Indy…he promised I get my money back in months…then he makes Precious and goes missing so he doesn’t have to pay me…then then Butler…Empire…same sh*t … Why does this dude feel like he doesn’t have to pay me?…why do I have to look crazy to get my money back…or go to court…ask @theoriginalbigdaddy why he doesn’t feel like he has to pay me even though he has it…what type of shit is this.. #paywhatyouowe”
And of course, being the always hustlin’ businessman that he is, Damon Dash took the opportunity to promote his other ventures. He told fans that all of the details of his confrontation with Lee Daniels will be posted on IG TV and he reminded everyone that his 2017 book, “Culture Vultures” (which is what he called Daniels), is in stores and online now:
“I’m going to put this whole thing on my ig tv in a few… true definition of a culture vulture @culturevultures_book …eats off the culture but Robs the culture at the same time… see you back in court Lee your gonna pay me what you owe…please everyone ask him [why] he doesn’t think he has to pay me…”
How Much $ Dash Is Suing Daniels For
According to TMZ, ‘The Roc-A-Fella mogul claims Daniels promised to try to get him on as an EP [executive producer] for a Richard Pryor biopic … along with 5 percent on Daniels’ backend profits. According to the docs, Daniels bailed on the project … and didn’t deliver on his promises to Dame. Dash is suing for $5 million.’
This is Dash’s second lawsuit against Lee Daniels. The first one was in 2014, when he reportedly sued him for the $2 million loan. The two then reached a settlement agreement in 2015. Dash says Lee did not honor that agreement, which is why he’s just filed his latest $5million lawsuit against Daniels.
Whatever is going on with the money issue they’re having, we know one thing, Lee Daniels will never hear the end of it, until he hashes this thing out with Dame. Like we said, Dash is known to speak his mind at all times…and put his rivals on blast in the process…especially when millions of dollars are reportedly at stake.
