About Her Parents…

Someone really struck a cord with Devante’s daughter, when they asked her this question:

“I think you are a beautiful person and great mother. But I know that everyone is kinda wanting to know the same thing: Where is the financial help and support from your family?” We all know who your dad and uncle are…I don’t judge you for doing what you gotta do…at the same time I’m wondering WHY SHOULD YOU EVEN HAVE TO?”

In response, Dyana revealed she’s been ‘on her own’ since she was a young teen and says her Moms “left.” She also stated that Devante Swing eventually shunned her because he does not approve of her choice:

Dyana DeGrate- “girl I’m #GROWN and haven’t asked either one of my parents for sh*t. My mom taught me how to survive and hustle & my dad taught me how to not give a Fu*k… I only ever got the tip of the silver spoon, but I never needed it. They don’t owe me anything, the fact that ur asking implies I’m incapable of handling MY OWN SH*T. Which I am and have been doing since my mom left at 14 from her, and my dad at 19 when I made a choice my father is not the type of man to accept. Period.”

As we all know, parenting does not come with a manual and therefore, not everyone will be ‘perfect’ at it. If Devante Swing and the Mother of his daughter did in fact, fail her in any way, hopefully they have lived and learned from their mistakes. As for Dyana DeGrate, we wish her and her son the best, and applaud her from speaking her truths.
