‘…But That’s Boxing’…

According to Dominic Breazeale, he thinks the referee “stopped it a little early.”

I could hear him saying seven and eight, but that’s boxing,” Breazeale mentioned to CBS Sports. “He did his job and kept us safe for our next fight. I got on my feet and had my legs under me. It’s the heavyweight division so there’s going to big shots from guys with power.

However, if you look at the video, you can hear the referee actually count to 10. Breazeale was still stumbling back thereafter, so he possibly wasn’t all-there to realize the full count. Nevertheless, Deontay Wilder‘s opponent continued by saying:

“This was a situation where [Wilder] landed the big right hand before I did. I thought I was going to come on in the later rounds. I’ll be back and go for the heavyweight title again.”

All in all, what are your thoughts? Do you think Breazeale would’ve lasted much longer had Deontay’s well-time punch not connected? If you have any comments, feel free to share them via our Facebook page.
