Diana’s 29 year old son/actor, Evan Ross, celebrated his three year anniversary with his 32 year old pop singer wife, Ashlee Simpson. Ashlee is the younger sister of pop-star singer, Jessica Simpson, and Evan comes from a long line of talented family members, including his mom and his big sis,’ actress Tracee Ellis Ross.

The two lovebirds married on August 31, 2014 and now have a three year old daughter , along with Jessica’s 8 year old son from her previous marriage to rockstar, Pete Wentz (of rock group, Fall Out Boy). And just like Evan’s and Ashlee’s marriage began (we’ll get to that in a minute), their 3 year anniversary didn’t come without a little backlash from the public…as well as a lotta love and an online debate about interracial dating and Serena Williams. Their Controversial Start
As far as their marriage getting off to a rocky start three years ago, there were a few factors. As we previously reported in 2015, word on the Old School curb was that Diana Ross refused to allow Evan marry Ashlee without having her sign a prenup. Evan is set to inherit some of her $500 million estate and it was reported that although Evan didn’t want a prenup, Diana was like ‘Hell to the naw!’ and had her lawyers reportedly draw up a 300 page prenup agreement for Ashlee to sign. After that, everyone was happy.
The second controversial moment that came with Evan’s and Ashlee’s marriage in the beginning, was that word got out that instead of Ashlee taking Evan’s real last name, which is his deceased father’s last name, ‘Naess,’ she wanted to instead take Diana Ross’ last name. Many fans accused her of trying to ride off of Diana’s legacy because of that. In the end, she did end up becoming Ashlee Simpson-Ross (publicly that’s what she goes by) and again, all is well between her, her husband, and her mother-in-law.
