What happens when you end up dating the ex of a famous celebrity you were once a fan of? If you have an ego such as bad gyal Erica Mena, of Love and Hip Hop New York you deny it!

Erica Mena started dating rising rapper and songwriter Safaree Samuels who is most known as Nicki Minaj’s ex-longtime boyfriend. The pair have known each other for some time but have only been dating since about November of 2018 and were engaged by December. Since the engagement, Erica and fellow Love and Hip Hop cast member Safaree has been shamelessly professing and proclaiming their love for each other on both of their Instagram pages and even created a couples page. Talk about, ‘team too much’.

The Lie

Erica and Safree were recently interviewed on Hot 97 with Nessa to talk about all things surrounding their relationship and the question if Erica listens to Nicki Minaj’s music came up. Erica said, “Honestly, I grew up on Lil Kim so heavy that when that came out, I was like, she’s biting my girl”.

However, Erica was lying and some Nicki stans turned into Twitter detectives and searched and found old tweets where Erica was fanning out about Nicki Minaj.

Our theory here is that Erica is now a celebrity in her own right and being labeled a fan of the woman who once had the love of your now finance’ might not sit well with Erica so she lied to try to save face.
