“I cried for three years straight because I had a very tough taskmaster, who I love her to death,” Shepherd, said. “It’s Barbara Walters.”“But Barbara Walters was tough on the people that she loved and she helped me find my voice,” she added. “So I will forever be indebted to Barbara Walters, Whoopi Goldberg, Joy Behar and Elisabeth Hasselbeck and Jenny McCarthy for the time that I had on ‘The View.’ What I have now is because of ‘The View.’”

There has been nonstop buzz the past few weeks, with excerpts of the book floating around. It details the many feuds amongst the hosts including O’Donnell and Hasselbeck and McCarthy and Walters.

“Everybody has their own filter,” Shepherd said. “When they were at ‘The View,’ some people had some not-so-great experiences, and some people had really wonderful experiences.”

The Take Away

“I’ll look at stuff that was negative, and how I turn it into a positive … Sometimes you have to go through difficult times and you have to fall in order to get back up, and be bright, and be great,” she said. Fortunately not all of Shepherds feuds did not make it in the book. However she does reveal that she did have some fights on the show. “Oh, I did. I just didn’t talk about them,” she said.

Shepherd does not intend on reading the book. She goes on to say that she was clever enough to keep some of her drama private.
