Police Officer Fired After ‘Flavor Flav’ Blackface Photo Surfaces

No More Work For You, Sir…

Mu police officer fired for blackface.

In a release Tuesday, March 19, the university said Marcus Collins acknowledged he was the person in the photo. Collins stated it happened prior to his employment with the police department.

BUT…it’s the fact that it happened at all! That’s the issue.

Nonetheless, University of Missouri Chancellor Alexander N. Cartwright further responds as follows.

“This type of behavior is not tolerated at Mizzou, and we understand how this impacts our entire community profoundly. Racism, hate and insensitive behavior have no place on our campus. We are committed to our values of respect, responsibility, discovery and excellence, and to making our campus a place where everyone feels welcome and protected.”

Prior to hiring people like Marcus Collins — especially for such a morally-upstanding position — a thorough investigation should be conducted. Including the use of candidates’ social media posts.

Speaking of social media posts, several people have voiced their thoughts about the campus officer via Twitter. Many of them state they’ve dressed as Flavor Flav and never once thought to use blackface.

All in all, if you have any comments regarding this officer, as well as his disrespect to Flavor Flav and the Black community, feel free to share them via our Facebook page.
