Soon after, I started my own foundation, the Sherry Jackson Foundation. The foundation’s objective is to assist and enhance the lives of underprivileged youth through education and enable them to make wise life choices.’

‘The recipients have touched my heart tremendously in ways that I could not have imagined. One child wrote how grateful she was to me and that she knew that God really exists. Besides the births of my two sons, this letter was a turning point and one of the highlights of my life.

Aug. 1, 2013, was the inception of Sherry Gordy Presents “Take the Stage,” a talent showcase inspired by Motown. The objective is to provide an open-mic forum that allows artists to showcase their talents and introduce them to a global audience.

The show is every Thursday from 7 p.m. to midnight at Club Tequila in Fiesta Rancho. Over the last two years, we have showcased hundreds of artists, enabling them to gain recognition in the pursuit of their career.

One of the main reasons behind this venture is to honor my father and perpetuate the spirit and legacy of Motown.’
