be no more love songs for her. So I guess that “Love on A Two Way Street” remake and “Where Do We Go From Here” ‘part 2- the 2015 version’ I was hoping for is out of the window. We made that up, but hey, we can have wishful thinking, can’t we? It would have been great getting another duet from Stacy and Johnny Gill, but like we said, that ain’t happening. What you can get from Stacy is her gospel music. That’s right, she’s singing church music and delivering sermons to congregations these days.

Here is what she said made her leave the R&B music scene for gospel:

“I had gotten to the point where I was empty on the inside. I would go out and buy a new coat, a new watch, a new diamond ring, a new car because I always had emptiness inside me,” Lattisaw said. According to Lattisaw, she was materially rich but spiritually poor. That’s when she discovered God. “God took the desire to sing from me. When God calls you, it’s either you choose Him or you don’t. I answered the call and I walked away [from singing].”

Lattisaw went on to use the same platform that she used for singing to reach people through her mentoring program. Lattisaw speaks with kids and women about leadership, integrity and bullying. She also has intentions of opening a homeless shelter for women. “I have such a burden to help women who are broken,” Lattisaw said. “I have a burden to open a facility for women who are homeless [and] hurting, [and] need a place to go — to dress them up and get them a job.” Said Lattisaw, “I just learned so much. Now it’s my responsibility to pass it on and help others to reach their goals and purposes.”

Stacy is in the business of giving back and that’s always a beautiful thing. You can pick up a copy of her book, “Stacy Lattisaw-Jackson: I Am Not The Same Girl Renewed” at stacylattisaw.net or on Amazon.com and you can follow her on Facebook at www.facebook.com/stacylattisawfriends.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
