Huh? Man Named Denzel Washington Did WHAT To His Mom Aretha Franklin?
ILOSM fam’ we couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried, I tell ya. So where do we begin with this crazy a$$ story? Let’s see…how about we start with Denzel Washington?
No, not THE Denzel, we’re talking about Denzel from New York City who just got arrested for assault against his mother. Who’s his mother you ask? That would be Aretha Franklin…NO, not THE Aretha, Queen of Soul, she’s just Aretha from the block, who raised a son who eventually ended up choking the hell outta her and landing himself on the wrong side of the law.
Now that we’re all clear on exactly which Denzel and Aretha we’re referring to (this family obviously has a thing for legends), check out what this dude did to his own Mother and what the criminal justice system has done with him in return:
Via NYPost: A Manhattan man named Denzel Washington took a plea deal Wednesday for strangling his mom, whose name is …Aretha Franklin. The altercation happened inside the mom’s apartment in a doorman building on West 93rd Street, according to the Manhattan criminal complaint.
“I am informed by Aretha Franklin,” the complaint says, “that she observed the defendant place his hands around her neck and apply pressure, thereby causing redness, bruising and substantial pain to her neck.”
The “American Gangster” star’s namesake copped a plea to harassment as a violation and was sentenced to a conditional discharge and an anger management program. Denzel from Manhattan, meanwhile, has another open case for trespassing at his mom’s building.
This altercation was allegedly over money. TMZ reported that Momma Aretha, accused Denzel of stealing money from her and that’s when he allegedly grabbed her around the neck and threatened her.
Next time Denzel decides to put his Momma in a chokehold, she better turn into the real Aretha and tell him…
Or else she’s gonna call up the Training Day Denzel and and tell him to teach him a lesson…
The good thing is that singer, Aretha Franklin and actor, Denzel Washington, have a great relationship with each other, he even celebrated her 72nd birthday with the Queen of Soul this year.
