To commemorate his death, a new EP titled Deliverance was set to be released on Friday, April 21st. However, it looks like that won’t be happening. So Many Legalities:

On Wednesday, Apr. 19, (2017) a federal judge ruled in favor of Prince’s estate in regards to the release of the Deliverance EP. it has been reported that George Ian Boxill, the producer of the project did not have rights to distribute the late singer’s music. So, Prince estate stepped in to halt the release. There was reportedly a confidentiality agreement between Prince and Boxill back in 2006 and he was ordered to return the recordings to the singer’s estate but to no avail.

If You Already Pre-Ordered The EP…:

Of course, thousands of Prince’s adoring fans will be in for a rude awakening when they get that memo today. However, the court order doesn’t specify what will happen for those who ordered. The halt in the release could be temporary, because the ruling is only a temporary order in place until May 3 unless a judge extends it. But, some fans may have gotten lucky if they noticed the EP before it the estate pulled a jack move and yanked it off the internet early Wednesday. According to the publication, those who pre-ordered may have gotten an immediate download of one song before the full production was removed from the site. In the meantime, we’ll be over hearing rockin’ out to a bunch of Prince classics like it’s 1991! Long live Prince!!!
