Jamie Foxx’s fans are on social media cuttin’ up today…and for a good reason. The singer/actor/comedian is currently a trending topic all because a Twitter user posted one question comparing Foxx’s talent to that of a much newer, less experienced music artist/actor- Donald Glover a.k.a. Childish Gambino.

Many of us, Old Schoolers, may not be too familiar with Donald Glover, so here’s a quick breakdown of who he is: He’s an actor best known for starring on NBC’s Community sitcom and also in his new FX series, Atlanta. He goes by the stage name, Childish Gambino, as it pertains to his music career. His latest single, “Redbone,” is inspired by the soul sounds of Old School R&B and has been heating up the airwaves lately. Now that we’re caught up on him, see what Jamie’s fans are going off about below…

Jamie Foxx’s fans took that as a complete diss to Jamie’s legacy, talent, and his many years of hard work and dedication to his craft, in comparison to that of Glover’s. So of course, they hilariously sounded off:

For the record, when you look at Jamie Foxx’s acting career alone, there is no comparison to Glover’s. Foxx killed it in many movies throughout the years, but when he transformed himself into Ray Charles for the 2004 movie, Ray, it was a done dada! He crushed the game! Okay, let’s talk about Jamie’s skills as a music artist- he’s a helluva singer and plays the hell out of a piano. His ability to make folks cry-laugh during his stand-up routines is on a whole ‘nother level, and well…you get my stance on this topic…

On the flip side, I definitely think Donald “Childish Gambino” Glover is a very gifted rapper/singer/actor. I also dig his new joint, “Redbone [Stay Woke],” because it has that old school musical vibe to it. But is he really ready to be compared to Jamie Foxx though? Nah…maybe ask me again in about 20 years.
