Lee Daniels Has Finally Broken His Silence, Gives An Update On Jussie Smollet’s ‘Empire’ Fate

There’s been speculation that Jussie may be returning to Empire for its final season but the air hasn’t really been clear about the situation. The most that’s been said came from 20th Century Fox who decided to extend his contract and keep his character Jamal Lyon’s future open for the sixth season. But after Variety tweeted (via Hot New Hip Hop) that Jussie was in negotiations to return to Empire Lee Daniels stepped in and put those rumors to rest for good.
Well there you have it. Jussie won’t be returning for Season 6. It’s a shame too because he was one of the most popular characters on the show. Hopefully his absence won’t damage the ratings more than they already have been. Empire‘s final season airs later this year on FOX.
