She’s been the soundtrack to our lives for decades. Now pop superstar Mariah Carey is celebrating turning 49. Carey was sure to share images from her fun filled big day on Instagram for her 7.9 million followers.

“3.27 I love you so much, thank you everyone for the anniversary love,” the Grammy-award winning singer told her fans.

The diva that is Mariah refers to her birthdays as anniversaries. That’s because she sees herself as “eternally 12” and would rather mark the day she arrived in the world rather than the number of years that have passed.

According to PageSix.com Carey says: “I don’t count years but I definitely rebuke them . . . I have anniversaries, not birthdays, because I celebrate life, darling.”

Yesterday the “We Belong Together” singer tweeted a video showing her being covered in silly string by back up dancer boyfriend Bryan Taneka. 

Also seen in the clip are her seven-year-old twins Monroe and Moroccan and her two Chihuahuas. 

Earlier on in the week, the beauty had a special “anniversary” dinner with Tanaka, 35, and her kids after her Caution Tour gig at Radio City Music Hall in New York.
