Michael Jackson’s son, Michael “Prince” Joseph Jackson Jr., very rarely speaks to the media about anything and for a long time, he was damn near a ghost in the world of social media. In other words, he’s not a typical 24 year old who lives, breathes, and sleeps on social media in today’s digital era. But being normal was never in his DNA, simply because it’s NOT in his DNA. How could it be when your Daddy is Michael Jackson?

In Prince’s prior interview with the LA Times, he talked about how he coped after his father’s death, what it was like growing up having to wear masks in public, who his daddy warned him about trusting, what he REALLY thinks about his mom, and several other things.

Here’s what Prince said about his relationship with his biological mother, Debbie Rowe:

Prince Jackson: “I’m very lucky to have two mother figures in my life, my grandmother and my cousin, Frances. As for my birth mother, she’s always been more of a friend, and that works for us,” he says. “You could say my whole life has been unconventional. I really love that though, and it’s all I’ve ever known.”

Prince confessed that it was tough on him and his siblings when their dad died for several reasons. Not only were they dealing with their loss, but the allegations and sex scandals that plagued their dad’s career were immediately thrown into their faces for the first time in their lives:

“After he died, we got bombarded with [everything],” Jackson says bluntly. “It was a shock,” he says. “It all came at once. But [we] learned how to deal with it by just kind of ignoring it,” [said Prince].

Prince:  J.: “My dad spoke to me like an adult. He told us the reason for the masks was he wanted us to have our own life without him,” Jackson said, noting he and his siblings could often go out without their father unbothered because they were unrecognizable.

“I don’t think I ever thought about if other kids lived like that when I was younger. But once I knew who he was, I realized it wasn’t normal. I remember being in Disneyland and I went to the window and there were all these fans waving and taking pictures of me. I thought it was normal, so I just waved back,” he continued. “It wasn’t until I saw a video of him performing and people were fainting and passing out, when I realized the work he did meant a lot to people.”

Big ups to Prince Jackson for sharing such personal info with the world. Pretty sure his Pops would be proud.
