New Edition Announces Name Change, Reveals Two Members No Longer Part Of The Group
Last week Michael Bivins turned heads when he opened up about all the New Edition drama and now things are gettin’ a bit more interesting. Apparently, two guys have cut ties with New Edition and the change is so drastic the guys have opted to change the name of the group. However, that’s not all the guys have to say.
The Show Must Go On:
Since New Edition has always been the type of group to take time to consider the fans, the guys have decided that the show will go on regardless of who can and can’t perform. According to The Jasmine Brand, on Wednesday, May 9, Bobby Brown took to Instagram with an interesting announcement. The Grammy Award-winning singer confirmed there will be a tour this summer but there’s just one slight difference – they won’t be hitting the road under the name New Edition. This time around they’re performing under the stage name RBRM. So, what does that stand for? Well, it’s innovative yet obvious. RBRM stands for “Ronnie, Bobby, Ricky, Mike.” So, its kinda like Bel Biv Devoe joins forces with Bobby Brown. Its new Edition without Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant. Right now, it’s unclear why Johnny and Ralph have decided not to tour, but the guys have made it clear fans will get a show this summer.

Mike Bivins Speaks:
Bobby Brown’s latest post about the tour comes just days after Mike Bivins spoke out about the group’s drama. Last week, Mike took to Instagram with a lengthy post. The famed Bel Biv Devoe singer admitted there was tension between the guys although he didn’t go into detail. But out of obligation to the fans, he decided to address the situation. “Family business is family business and I know yall need answers on why ish is not going down ( the Big Tour , Part 4,5,6 of more of the movie, or anything else you do to celebrate with your fans).”
However, he also stated that the guys were working to resolve their differences. “I will do my part and talk and open up communication to get this ish back on track Ralph, Ricky , Ronnie , Bobby , Johnny & Brooke. With love and honor and respect at the table, God can do his work Good am & God Bless.”

While some fans have considered the new name to be bittersweet, most are looking forward to the upcoming tour and seeing the guys in action again. In fact, many avid New Edition supporters pointed out that Bobby Brown and Bel Biv Devoe were the most successful when the group disbanded. So the change could be good. As expected, Bobby Brown’s post has been flooded with comments from adoring fans. “BBD. And The Brown Bomber… .Sounds good to me…They don’t have to do one New Edition song FRFR…….And still kill it,” one fan said. Another fan wrote, “If you’re a true fan u don’t ask where the other members are u appreciate the four that’s going on tours & still doing what they do for us, the fans by giving us one hell of a show…so to @kingbobbybrown @bigrondevoe@mrrickybell @617mikebiv & Uncle @brookepayne1 I appreciate u…..
