latavia and destiny's child

For those who may not be as familiar with Latavia Roberson, here’s a little info on her: She and Letoya Luckett parted ways with Destiny’s Child in 2000, after the group was having great success. Their departure was sparked after Latavia and Letoya wanted to bring in a third-party mediator to work beside their then manager, Matthew Knowles. But their attempt was squashed and they soon found themselves getting excluded from the group and  with their next video, “Say My Name,” including their vocals, but Michelle Williams and Farrah Franklin as their replacements. Letoya and Latavia eventually sued and won the rights to collect royalties from their prior work with Destiny’s Child, which includes sales of over 72 million during their duration with the group.

Latavia also appeared on one season of R&B Diva’s a couple years ago as a way to reintroduce herself to the public and reignite her singing career as a solo artist.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
