Ouch..After Tyrese’s Big Win In Court, Judge Surprises Singer With Devastating Blow

Posted On : June 12, 2018

Last week, it appeared things were looking up for Tyrese, but unfortunately, his big win in court was short-lived. For those who missed it, the “How You Gonna Act Like That” singer managed to pull a fast one on his ex-wife Norma Gibson. According to The Blast, Norma had planned a trip to Israel and, of course, she wanted to take their daughter, Shayla, with her but Tyrese just wasn’t havin’ it. His legal team swooped in almost immediately to file documents blocking Norma’s efforts and, initially, the filing seemed to have worked. But, in a matter of days, Tyrese’s big court win has fallen apart with the ruling being reversed following Norma’s arguments.

Norma Claps Back:

On Thursday, June 7, Norma returned to court with a few tricks of her own. It has been reported that although Tyrese’s attorney, Ali Fishbein, argued that Norma had no legitimate emergency to justify taking the trip right now, she argued that Shayla only has a 12-week break before school begins. In a nutshell, there’s only a certain time of the year when they can take trips like this. With that being said, the judge overturned the previous ruling and now Norma has the right to travel to Israel with Shalya. Although the child’s passport will be released to Norma for this trip, she will have to surrender it again when she returns. To many, her arguments don’t seem to be as extensive as Tyrese’s but apparently, the judge has ruled in her favor.

The Custody Battle:

The latest court ruling comes less than a week after Tyrese’s court win where the judge ruled to put a halt to Norma’s travel plans. After learning about the trip, Tyrese did everything in his power to put a damper on Norma’s trip. At the time, Tyrese’s legal team focused on his concerns for his daughter’s safety citing the rise in violence in Israel. In addition to questioning the trip, Tyrese also filed for primary custody of Shayla asking the judge to allow him to move his daughter from Los Angeles to Atlanta, GA with him and his new wife. Court documents revealed the singer insisted he has created a positive, stable environment in his recently purchased mansion.

Gibson says it is in “Shayla’s best interest” to relocate from Los Angeles (where she lives with her mother) to Atlanta. As The Blast previously reported, Gibson was awarded 50/50 custody of Shayla last year but now he is seeking primary physical custody.

He says the home is in a safe community where Atlanta police constantly patrol the area at all times. In addition, Tyrese says Shayla would attend a highly-rated private school and have access to a highly-rated tutor.

“In Atlanta … we are free to move around the city without being harassed or photographed,” Tyrese said.

In his deposition, Gibson says he has “created a stable and loving environment” for his daughter in Atlanta. He notes that he lives “in a 23,000 square foot home in an affluent and safe neighborhood in Atlanta.”

Two Sides To The Story:

Insiders close to the pair have also shared details about the upcoming trip to Israel. Of course, there are two sides to that story, as well.

Sources close to Tyrese believe his custody move was the main motivation for the sudden trip to the Holy Land, however sources close to Norma tell us she is adamant it was a planned trip and not a reaction to anything recently.

In addition to the latest ruling, the judge opted not to entertain the idea of further modifications to the estranged pair’s visitation schedule for the summer. He’s also encouraged them to make efforts to work together to 54resolve any other issues they may have.
