The words, ‘legendary’ and ‘iconic,’ don’t really emphasize how important Patti LaBelle is to the music industry, but the love for Miss Patti doesn’t stop there. If anything, it’s an extension of the love she receives from her hometown, Philadelphia, Pa! Ask anyone what Philly is famous for and most of them will say three things; The Liberty Bell, cheesesteaks, and Patti LaBelle. That love goes both ways, as Patti has always represented for the city of brotherly love since the early days of her career. Now she’s being honored in a major way…

As you know, LaBelle started out with the classic girl group, The Bluebelles, and scored their major first hit in 1963 with the song, “Down The Aisle.” They went on to gain further success as LaBelle in the 1970’s and caused major fits of funk with the N’awlins flavored tune, “Lady Marmalade.” Unfortunately, the group disbanded shortly afterwards, and their last released single, “Isn’t It A Shame,” remains one of the most touching ballads of their career.
