Tresvant on why he is not rockin’ with New Edition at the moment…

R.T.:”Actually, everybody has their own careers and they are so established in them, that they can work on them from that aspect at any point in time. … When something arises…where they have an opportunity to take advantage of their own careers that’s what we do. Johnny takes advantage of his, so does BBD…Bobby does the same thing.

So I just woke up one year and was saying, ‘You know I’m the only one that didn’t really establish myself away from the group like I could have, or probably should have.’ And I needed to take some time to do that, so that’s why you see me moving the way that I’m moving right now.”

He added:

“Right now I’m having fun just establishing myself as ‘Ralph,’…away from being known as just the lead singer of New Edition.”

So is there hope for a reunion at some point?
According to Ralph, yes, there’s hope, but he says that first they’d need to sit down and address “some things internally that’s taking place” amongst them, regarding beefs and such. He also revealed, “I looked past a lot of stuff…I’ve done that throughout the years, just to make sure that the ship keeps moving.” Nonetheless, Ralph says there’s still hope. However, there’s just one problem…

Ralph hasn’t talked to Ronnie, Bobbie, Ricky & Mike in HOW LONG?

R.T.: “I haven’t talked to the fellas [Ronnie Bobby, Ricky, and Mike] in almost a year. … Actually I talked to Michael Bivins yesterday for the first time IN a year. … There’s a whole lot of stuff going on about how I supposedly stole the groups name.”

When asked what he would say to his group members if they were watching Ralph replied:

“I’d say we all need to talk…like we’re supposed to talk, like grown men. … Especially the core five that’s really been pushing the group, for as long as Bobby left. When he left, there’s a core of New Edition that really kept the group moving, and we all need to sit down together eventually and see if there’s something that we can figure out.”

As y’all can see, there is clearly some underlying tension between him and Bobby, just as was suspected months ago. Apparently, Bobby Brown is the only N.E. member Ralph does not consider to be a “core” member of the group anymore.

Lately Ralph and Jonny have been performing across the country on their solo tip. But hopefully they can all work this thing out though, because they all love each other like brothers. And besides, New Edition is ALWAYS better with ALL of the members on stage together.

Be sure to be on the lookout for Ralph’s new solo project and television show he currently has in the works. Check out the rest of what Ralph revealed in the video up top.

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
