Unseen Footage:

The never-before-seen clip captures Whitney Houston in her element: standing in a music studio with headphones on. Initially, the scene is so dark you can’t see the people in the video, but you can definitely make out who is talking. Bobby and Whitney could be heard talking and when the lights come on, there’s Whitney. From the looks of the video, it had to have been filmed in the early 90s. As the couple continued talking, Whitney’s sister-in-law and manager, Pat Houston, walked into the room. At the time, it appeared all was well in the world for the Houston and Brown families. Bobby went on to dote on his wife and sister-in-law. Check out the clip:

The Star That Still Shines Bright:

The film, simply titled Whitney, will reportedly discuss the career angle of Bobby and Whitney’s marriage. While both were successful in their own right, many people have always argued Bobby’s star didn’t shine as bright as Whitney’s. Despite platinum albums, sellout tours, and fans across the nation, it always seemed as if Bobby was standing in his wife’s shadows. Legally, Whitney was “Mrs. Brown,” but to many fans Bobby was “Mr. Houston.” In the trailer for the upcoming film, insiders claim that was somethin’ Bobby battled with. Although the seemingly odd pair turned out to be a match made in heaven, the happy moments between Bobby and Whitney didn’t last forever.

Over the years, the famed couple’s headlines began to shift toward the more negative press. The happier times were replaced with disheartening photos and inside stories about their personal battles behind closed doors. Although the Houston family often did damage control to hide the truth about Whitney’s drug abuse, things didn’t always go according to plan. But despite the drug abuse, Whitney still prevailed and fans loved her no less. Whenever a Whitney Houston album dropped, it was almost guaranteed to go platinum. In her later years when her beautiful voice wasn’t exactly as powerful as it once was, it didn’t change the fact that she was Whitney. The film aims to shed light on the whole dynamic of Whitney Houston’s rise to fame and how she became a legend.

Somethin’ In Common:

The latest news follows a string of reports about Bobby and Whitney’s marriage. On many occasions, the two have spoken publically about their bouts with substance abuse. Since Whitney’s death, Bobby has been more vocal about their life behind closed doors. To many fans’ surprise, Bobby revealed alcohol was usually his vice although he also abused drugs, Whitney was the one who typically did harder drugs. “It was terrible. Both of us, you know, trying to be clean, or one of us trying to be clean and the other one don’t wanna be clean. It’s a big struggle,” he explained.

For years, people gave Bobby the side eye about that but following Whitney’s death, her toxicology report confirmed all the rumors. While prescription drugs didn’t contribute to her death, a plethora of other substances did.

Whitney hits theaters nationwide on Friday, July 6.
