Prosecutors Backs Against The Wall

Chicago may use R.Kelly’s’ case to redeem themselves after they got slammed for letting Smollett of the hook on 16 federal charges. Prosecutors now feel like their backs are against the wall. If they let Kelly off easy the city might break out into an uproar! Attorney Steven Greenberg weighed in on the Smollet/Kelly situation saying;

“I think it makes it more difficult for a friendly disposition because they’re going to be extremely reluctant to admit they brought these cases with scant evidence or that there are any other problems.”

It also doesn’t help the fact that Kim Foxx is already determined to prosecuting Kelly to the fullest extent the law will allow. Ever since Surviving R.Kelly aired on Lifetime, Foxx has been on it! As you might remember she held a press conference urging any witnesses to come forward.

What is peculiar is the fact that Foxx had recused herself from Jussie’s case admitting that she had been communicating with Smollett’s family. Greenberg chimes in on that by saying there is no way that Foxx will recuse herself in the R. Kelly case because she had not communicated with any revolving around Kelly.

Unlike Smollett, Kelly is facing way more serious charges. He has been charged with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse. All of the charges are considered class 2 felonies which carry a max sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison for each offense. The R&B singer has consistently denied all allegations.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
