If you remember the 90’s hip hop group, Arrested Development, then you probably remember the  lively background dancer, who wasn’t necessarily in the ‘background’ much at all. In fact, she helped to make Arrested Development’s performances the hyped, African inspired shows that they were, because she used to cut up on stage! But check her out now…

There are a few feats Montsho has accomplished since we’ve last seen her in the 90’s:
1. She’s now a singer, a choreographer and also wears several other hats behind the scenes these days…

Montsho Eshe: “I actually got into artist management. I had an artist, Yum Yum Girl, who was on LaFace. She did a couple of records like collabs with people but she never came out due to a lot of label switching. It was crazy because a lot of artist get caught up in that, the whole corporate hustle and bustle thing. Then, I also started doing choreography for a lot of artists, teaching.” Source

WAIT TIL YOU SEE WHAT SHE DID WITH “POWER” ACTOR, OMARI HARDWICK…

Beautiful ladies!

Something else Montsho deserves her props for is for reuniting Arrested Development after many years of separation and nasty breakups. They’ve been performing in recent years and this is what Speech (lead vocalist/founder of the group) said about Montsho:

Via JesseBlog:Was reuniting with the group always in the back of your mind as you worked as a solo artist?

Speech: Honestly, I would always be fine with doing it but no, it wasn’t a huge thought. At the time, even though I was doing my solo stuff, me and some of the members were going through lawsuits with each other. It was a lot of internal drama between me and some of the members so I just wasn’t thinking of it. It wasn’t on my heart. And thank God for Eshe. About 5 years after I started my solo career, she called me and said we should do more group stuff and she presented it so that I started to have a real vision for it as well. She really helped to bring the group back together.

And there you have it ILOSM fam, we love seeing entertainers from back in the day still being able to do what they love and earn a living from it.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
