Posted On : May 12, 2018

New Edition’s Ricky Bell, has a message he wants y’all to hear. As we previously reported, Bobby Brown confirmed that two of New Editions members, Johnny Gill and Ralph Tresvant were no longer a part of the legendary group. Understandably, that shocking revelation caused mass hysteria across the internet and sparked rumors that Ralph and Johnny were kicked out of the group against their will. Fast forward to today, and Ricky has something to say about that…

Ricky Bell Sets The Record Straight & Is Disappointed

After Ricky Bell caught wind of the rumors- that his two N.E. brothers were kicked to the curb- he decided to speak out, on Instagram, to inform fans of what was really up with them. See what he had to say below:

Ricky Bell: “To our beloved and devoted fans; I know that some of you may be a bit confused and/or disappointed that “NE”, as you know us, is not going on tour at this time. Trust me when I tell you I’m just as disappointed as you are. Especially after pouring out our hearts to you guys in the form of the “New Edition Story”… we know that you’ve come to expect excellence from us.

Although I’m not able to go into specific details at this very moment, I will say this much – Nobody gets kicked out of NE anymore. Those days are long behind us.

Like all families we have differences that plague us and those indifferences must be dealt with and smoothed out for us to function as the single unit that will allow us to tour as NE again. To be completely honest, I, for one, will rely on God’s infinite wisdom and timing to orchestrate the right time and place for that to happen. But make no mistake about it, when that time comes please know that Ricky Bell will be there front and center ready to rock.

As always, I will be at every meeting, rehearsal and on every conference call (early to be exact). I’m willing to do my part to ensure that the legacy that you, our beautiful fans, have helped us build and sustain for the better part of 30 plus years.

Meanwhile, as we trust God to work all of this out for us, we still must feed our families all while attempting to protect our legacy from being destroyed by the lies and deceit of the enemy.
In closing, I thank you in advance for your undying support and fervent prayers for a resolution. You are indeed our cherished gift from above. God Bless You! -With Love, RB.

Bobby Brown’s Announcement

Prior to Ricky’s statement, his N.E. brotha, Bobby Brown, made the initial announcement that New Edition was 2 members short and had changed their name to RBRM (Ronnie, Bobbie, Ricky, and Mike). Although Bobby didn’t go into specifics at that time, it was clear to see that something went awry with Johnny and Ralph’s participation in N.E.. In fact, it couldn’t have been more clearer based on the RBRM tour announcement and promo flyer Bobby posted, which mysteriously excluded Johnny and Ralph.

Ralph Tresvant and Johnny Gill have yet to address this publicly. Overall, his N.E. split has left us feeling like the words of Chris Rock uttered in “Boomerang”: “Damn, first the Fat Boys break up…now THIS.”

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
