ILOSM family, we’re asking al of you to send one up for rap legend Kurtis Blow right now. Just days after he’d announced that his recent heart surgery was a success, his good friend, Russell Simmons, has just released new heartbreaking information about Kurtis’ current condition.

The 59 year old rap star has been rushed back to the hospital for an emergency open heart surgery. Here’s what Simmons has now revealed:

unclerush: Fu*k, Captain Kurt damn!!! He just informed me that prayers are needed again. Please put @kurtisblow back into your prayers. He has been called to emergency open heart surgery. Kurtis Blow is a survivor, but this is not good. I say this to all who loved his music, his heart is bigger than his music. His family is a testimony to his goodness. His loving wife of at least 35 years and beautiful children are examples of his willingness to give. Let’s all give him the prayers and our blessings.

As we previously reported, it was just 5 days ago (May 2), that Kurtis Blow shared an encouraging messsge about the heart surgery he’d had days earlier:

“Hello my family and friends. The surgery was a tremendous success- Praise God!! Thank you everyone for your prayers and well wishes!!! Wow!!! I am so humbled by all the love!!!! To God be the Glory!!! God Bless you all.”

Prior to his surgery, he’d informed fans about the heart surgery he was preparing for:

kurtisblow: “To all my friends and family. I am in the hospital at UCLA Medical. I am preparing for an aortic artery repair procedure tomorrow morning. The procedure will stabilize the artery from further damage caused by the hematoma I contacted from my recent travels to China. Dr Kwon is an incredible surgeon with hundreds of these procedures under his belt. I trust that God will use him as a tool of success tomorrow.

We currently do not know what exactly is going on with Kurtis Blow’s heart, but there is still hope for him to make it through this. Let’s please continue to send prayers up and healing energy to him at this time.
