Sade Was Set To Star In A POPULAR 90s Film, But REFUSED To Do This…

Sade Sade was all set to play the role of “Clarke Bentacourt,” one of Denzel’s two love interests in the film, but once she found out that she was gonna have to have a hot and steamy bump n’ grind session with Denzel, she was like “Peace out!” LOL.

mo better blues blog picNow I know what you’re thinking, many women would have been jumping through hoops to try to get that bump n’ grind scene with Denzel, but Sade wasn’t trying to hear it. Actress, Cynda Williams, replaced Sade and the production went on as planned.

We can’t knock Sade for making that decision, she did what she felt most comfortable with, but I’d be lying if I said I wouldn’t have been the first one in line at the movie theater if Sade would been in this movie. Ah well, so much for that…I still love Sade’s music, she’s one of the greatest R&B artists to have ever done it and for that, I thank her.

What do you think ILOSM fam?’ Was Sade being a little too uptight about it, or was she right- the scene was just too racy?

Old School fun fact about Mo’ Better Blues: the late great actor/dancer, Gregory Hines, was actually supposed to play Wesley Snipes character in the movie, but he had to drop out due to conflicts with his schedule.

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
