See Which 48 Yr Old Singer Drake Says His Success Is Partly Due To

Posted On : October 6, 2016

Unless you’ve been living under “multitudes” of rocks, you know Drake is the man right now.

Drake recently told the world who’s partly behind his performance success. Mad props to Jamie Foxx.

Even though OVO is Canadian in ownership, it’s become an American namesake. Due to several influences, Drake is who he is today.

Blame It on the…

However, Drizzy gives one in particular — Jamie Foxx — solo recognition for his attributes toward Mr. OVO’s success on stage.

Here’s what Drake told his fans on October 6 via Instagram.

“I learned how to perform on stage watching The Foxx Box,” Graham mentions.

In case you’re unfamiliar with this, it’s Jamie’s stand-up collection. However, it refers to his “Foxxhole” segment as well.

If you haven’t seen Jamie on stage, you can watch a snippet video at the end of the article.

Likewise, Foxx Boxx was also alluded to on his TV show.

“Fancy!”

Honestly, who didn’t watch The Jamie Foxx Show?

When Jamie would hop on the keys, you’d be lying if you weren’t like, “D**n, Jamie!…Play! Sing!”

But, all while laughing along, right?

This is the same way Drake feels. However, it all had a lasting impact on his professional career.

“This man made people laugh, made people feel connected and engaged, made the room feel small and made people laugh while he bodied a full blown singing performance.”

Overall, this was post of homage and respect toward Jamie. And, Drake says “Thank you.”

All of Canada with Drake

Have you ever seen or heard a Drizzy concert? The energy is crazy.

Remember when Drake and Meek Mill began their beef? Drake put him on blast in front of “all of Canada,” as Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson put it.

Like Jamie, Drake is an artist of the people. And, it’s because of this, Drizzy knows how to work the stage.

Whether it’s from Jamie Foxx, unrelenting practice, perfectionism, etc., this OVO mogul is what’s happening in the world of urban music right now.

Humble Pie

So far, Jamie seemingly hasn’t noticed the shout out. As can be seen from Drake’s message, he didn’t tag him to the post.

Obviously, the post wasn’t for conversational recognition on his part. Rather, he was just letting his fans know from where he gets his stage presence and charisma.

For most Black adults Drake’s age (older and younger), Foxx Boxx and The Jamie Foxx Show was right up there with The Wayans Bros. and Martin.

Did Foxx’s career have a similar lasting impact on your life?

About I Love Old School Music

We salute the incredible people and beautiful memories of that "old school". We’re not saying that every artist and every facet of the soul era was perfect, but the artists’ contributions to soul music and the old school memories of that particular time are PRICELESS.
