SMH…Bishop Eddie Long Is No Longer With Us, But The IRS Is Still Hitting Him

Posted On : June 28, 2017

Everyone has probably heard the rumors about how callous the IRS can be. It’s no secret the IRS has no respect of person. Even in death, they may try to come after you. Unfortunately, Eddie Long’s family is left to face a similar issue. Apparently, his death hasn’t deterred the IRS from hitting his estate with a tax lien.

Back in January, Bishop Eddie Long’s death sparked a media firestorm. As expected, churchgoers around the country mourned the loss of the well-known Atlanta megachurch pastor. But although it’s been more than six months since his death, there’s one government agency still focused on a different type of loss – the IRS.

The Tax Lien:

According to Bossip, the Treasury’s Small Business/Self-Employed Department just filed a tax lien against Eddie Long’s estate for income he made back in 2015. Despite his death, his estate is being hit for more than $335,216.34. Here’s an excerpt from the publication detailing the IRS’ $335,000 tax lien that has been filed against Eddie Long’s estate:

The controversial megachurch leader – who became infamous after several young men accused him of sexual impropriety – died of cancer six months ago, leaving his wife, Vanessa, and children behind. But his death didn’t stop Uncle Sam for filing the lien May 9 for income he made in 2015. In total, the IRS wants $335,216.34 from Long’s estate. The eye-popping tax amount means Long must have been raking in the dough almost right up until his death. – Bossip

His Death:

The latest reports about Bishop Eddie Long’s tax debts follow his death on January 15, 2017. Although his illness was kept secret, it is rumored that he died after an aggressive battle with cancer. His family has yet to release a statement regarding the latest report about the tax lien.
